Lessons will continue through the holidays, improvers on Mondays 7:30-10 in the Mix Café and beginners on Thursdays 7:30-10 in the UCSA Ballroom.

RUEDA INVASION

THIS Saturday, 21 August! The first flash mob will be at the wheat sculpture on the corner of Colombo and Hereford Streets at 12:30 sharp. You should know who your partner will be in advance and invite them to dance when the music starts playing.
**Please turn up early so you'll be there when the music starts, and act inconspicuous for greater effect- i.e. prior to the music pretend you don't know any of the other dancers, including your partner! When the song finishes we'll all scatter and meet in the square for more dancing. If you are a bit rusty on the rueda, don't panic. The moves we will call won't be too complicated. If you want to get some practice in don't forget there will be lunchtime rueda on the Friday before the invasion outside Café 360 from 1pm.

SPECIAL CHA CLASS

Ever find yourself fumbling along trying to dance Cha in town, or just sitting out all those songs because you haven't learned it at UCanDance? Well now's your chance to try out this fun Latin dance. It will be $20 for 5 lessons, which will take place on Mondays 7:30 -8:15, starting Monday 13 September. Sign up sheets will be available at lessons. Sign up with a partner for gender balance, but we'll be rotating so it doesn't matter who (and if you can't find someone, let us know, and we'll try and find someone for you).

MODERN JIVE PARTY

Our annual Modern Jive party (The MJ version of Fuego!) will be held on Saturday, September 11, 8-12. The theme is Trash to Flash, so put on your thinking cap and see what creative costumes you can come up with! There will be decorations, nibbles and beverages and of course, DANCING. It will be a great evening to socialize and rock out to your favourite songs. The location will be St Peters Church Hall, Church Corner, Yaldhurst Rd. Pre-sale tickets available at UCanDance classes, $5 students, $8 non-students, and $10 door sales.
